AS AN INDIVIDUAL SPORT, WITH AN ALPHABET SOUP OF ORGANIZATIONS, TENNIS ISN'T EXACTLY
known for coming together and acting as one. And while everyone from fans and players to the powers-that-be
will argue endlessly over issues like the length of the pro season and the Davis Cup format, there’s a topic
outside the lines that everyone agrees on— helping improve the environment.
Where you see the most dramatic and sweeping change to help the environment is with the game’s big three
racquet manufacturers. HEAD, Prince, and Wilson have each decided to not only champion the green
revolution but to be an active part in it. HEAD is teaming up with the environmental charity Cool Earth to help
save the rainforests. Prince has joined forces with Billie Jean King to create GreenSlam, an initiative that
promises to change the way sports, and not just tennis, does business. And Wilson has been on the forefront of
creating eco-friendly manufacturing processes to produce top-shelf product, like its [K] Factor racquet.
IT'S THREE DISTINCT APPROACHES, WITH ONE CAUSE— TO MAKE THE GAME GREEN. |
